About Jordan Adams

Why take founder advice from somebody who hasn't been the founder?

I'm Jordan Adams, a serial founder who has personally sold three businesses. I know the decisions, pressure and responsibility that sit behind the job title because I've lived them. I'm based between London and Dubai and work with founders across the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East.

What have I actually built?

I've built businesses, employed teams, worried about cash, made the wrong hires, won major clients, lost deals and completed three exits. I know what it feels like when everybody expects the founder to have the answer.

I'm not here to sit on the sidelines and send you a slide deck. I'll get into the numbers, challenge the comfortable answer, help build what is missing and stay close enough to keep things moving.

Why does 3AM Thoughts exist?

Because the questions that keep founders awake at three in the morning rarely get a proper hearing anywhere else. Your team need you to be certain. Your family want you to be fine. Most advisers are one step removed from the consequences. 3AM Thoughts is the place those questions get answered honestly by somebody who has had the same ones.

Why does honest challenge matter?

Agreement is cheap. If you're paying me and I only tell you what you already believe, you've bought nothing. The value is in the question you'd rather not answer, asked early enough that you can still do something about it.

Why do I stay so close to the numbers?

Because strategy that never meets a P&L is just an opinion. Margin, cash, client concentration and pricing tell you what's really happening in a business, usually before the founder feels it. Start there and the right priorities become obvious.

How is Co-Founder-as-a-Service different from detached advice?

You get the judgement, pattern recognition, honest challenge, commercial experience, accountability, practical involvement and support of another experienced founder, without giving away control of your business. I'm not your legal co-founder, an employee or a director. I'm the person who gets properly involved and then keeps showing up.

What do I actually want for you?

The business you actually want, not the one you think you're supposed to build. A lifestyle business, a company built to scale and a company built to sell are three different jobs. Decide which one you're doing and everything else gets easier.

We went from guessing at the month ahead to knowing what it would do before it started.

Jamie Critchton, founder of Nuopp: Before working with Jordan, every month started from nothing. We were busy, we were winning work, but I could not tell you in advance what the month would deliver. Jordan got under the hood of the numbers with me. We rebuilt the pricing, we tightened who we sell to, and we put a proper sales rhythm in place. Since then we have grown month on month and we have just finished our highest ever revenue year. The operations side is systemised now, so the business does not stop when I step out of a meeting. The biggest change is confidence. I have hired, which twelve months ago I would not have risked doing. Jordan does not sit on the fence. If something is not working he tells you, and then he helps you fix it.

Forty five minutes with Jordan changed how I saw the entire business.

Nigel Blake, founder of PPB2B: I came to Jordan with a business that was working, sort of. We had clients, we had revenue, and we were flat. In one conversation, forty five minutes, he asked the questions nobody else had asked me and I could see it. We were selling to the wrong market. We pivoted the whole business into a new niche. That was not a comfortable conversation and it was the right one. The revenue in that new niche is significant now, and it came from a session that cost me nothing but honesty. Jordan is blunt about numbers and money, and he is generous with everything he knows. Both at the same time.
